As you begin to prepare for the different challenges during your season, you realize some challenges will be different from others. As you win from week to week, the games get bigger and bigger. The games are the same as they have been all season, but the impact or significance of each game grows because of what’s on the line for the next week. What should the coach or leadership do to prepare the team for each game as the challenge escalates?

Number one. Develop team members. The first step is to develop each team member to help them realize his/her potential. A leader should see the potential within their team members and help each team member grow to fulfill that potential. If you’re leading the team, one of your most important responsibilities is to see the potential that people don’t see in themselves and draw it out. When you accomplish this, you’re doing your job as a leader. Always give the people who are already on your team a chance to grow and become their best.

Number two. Remove ineffective members from your team. Sometimes a team member can turn a winning team into a losing due to their lack of skill or a poor attitude. In those cases you must put the team first and make changes for the betterment of the team. Growing a team isn’t easy. It is demanding and time-consuming, but if you want to achieve your dream, you have no other choice. As a challenge escalates the need for teamwork elevates.
